The short version: we do not want your data. The game has no accounts, no telemetry, no ads, and this website has no cookies or analytics. Here is the long version.
The game
- Taskbar Colony runs locally on your PC. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information, and there is no telemetry or crash reporting of our own.
- Your save file lives on your own machine. If Steam Cloud is enabled, Steam also keeps a copy of it with your Steam account so your colony follows you between PCs. That copy is handled by Valve under the Steam Privacy Policy, and you can turn Steam Cloud off per game in your Steam settings.
- Achievements and gameplay statistics (things like supply pods caught) are stored with your Steam profile by Valve. A few of those statistics are also aggregated by Valve across all players; we display only those anonymous totals, for example "supply pods caught by everyone", on this website. Aggregate totals contain nothing about you individually.
- Steam rich presence ("Run 3, 12 prestige") is shown to your Steam friends by Valve, and Discord rich presence talks only to the Discord app running on your own computer. Both have their own toggles in the game's settings and can be turned off at any time.
- If you publish a colony flag to the Steam Workshop, the flag image and the name you give it become public on your Steam profile, like any Workshop item.
- We never see your payment details; purchases are processed entirely by Valve.
This website
- taskbarcolony.com uses no cookies, no accounts, no trackers, and no analytics. Fonts are system fonts; nothing is loaded from third-party font or script services.
- Like almost every website, our server and our CDN (Cloudflare) keep standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and abuse prevention. These are kept briefly and are not used to identify or profile you.
- The live numbers on the front page come from our server asking Steam for public, anonymous aggregate statistics. Your browser only talks to taskbarcolony.com.
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and help you, and we do not add you to any mailing list or share it with anyone.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There is nothing to collect.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
